Paperweights with an embedded army badge became popular at times of war. Some contain sulphides and others an actual badge. These are often attributed to Scotland's glass master Paul Ysart but others have questioned this and logic suggests that more than one hand made these. This special section is intended to provide a sampling of such weights to form a basis for this study. Discussion is best continued on the Glass Message Board .
Submitted images for each should be: 1. Top view. 2. Side view. 3. Base 20-30? angle, to show base shaping. 4. Detail view, to show any bubbles on badge. 5. Other views to highlight features, colours of ground and technique of ground - as appropriate. Also, on a white or neutral background to help compare the colour and transparency of the glass dome. Measurements to 1/8th inch (1mm) accuracy and weight. SG if possible. UV reactions long and shortwave, if possible.
