Van Gogh Inspirations - This collection of paperweights, designed by Helen MacDonald, are a tribute to the paintings of one of the most popular artists of all time, Vincent Van Gogh. Van Gogh (1853-1890) had an unsuccessful career as an art gallery salesman and then as a preacher before discovering his own painting talent in 1880. He studied his art intensely, concentrating mainly on downbeat subjects. In September 1883 he discovered colour and this soon dominated all his perceptions, creating "a lullaby in colour". A solitary flower stands tall and proud against the lush green foliage of the master's palette.
