1895 Medals/Signature label - Japan

Earliest recorded date for John Moncrieff trademark label.

These medal labels were used on product wrapper. Medals showing on the label are left to right: 1876 Philadelphia — 1878 Paris — 1876 Glass Sellers Company (UK) — 1880 Melbourne

15th December 1895 Japan registration number 76430.

It was also renewed again in 1905 and 1935 and possibly other dates - on the 9th May 1950 it was decided by the board not to renew again.

Note from the Trade Mark Owners Association 17th January 1944 advised that they were unable to renew during wartime.

There is a note in the papers of 1918 mentioning a “Japan infringement matter renewal case opened 1918 - original certs sent to Japan” As the original papers were sent to Japan this example was with the 1918 registration.

Japanese agent in 1933 was Jitsuo Fujita, Takeshi Sonokawa, Kiyoshi Suzuki and Keitichi Sarake of Tokyo Japan. (29/6/1933 Letter signed John Kaye director).
