HRH Princess Anne & Mark - "AM 1973" cane (note date) "OGJA" cane (Oban Glass Jack Allan) commemorative paperweight. Charlton lists as 1974, Caithness as 1973/74 (but with a 1974 cane). This weight was made by Jack Allan at Caithness Glass', Oban Glassworks. Since then it was in the private collection of Glass Maestro Alessandro Moretti and in 2006 it was donated to the Perth Museum by his daughter Yvonne. Kevin Holt remarked of this weight: "The Anne & Mark commemorative weight was the first of its type by Caithness Glass. It was also one of the first to have a maker's initial cane (there were already items with a PH cane for Peter Holmes). To have Yvonne's weight, complete with box and certificate, in the Perth museum would certainly complement the JA ones they already have ... a Perthshire Paperweights "Witches Ball" with JA cane and a Caithness Glass "Flower In The Rain" (version with red flower in green ground). Design: Colin Terris ©2007 Perth Museum and Art Gallery, Perth and Kinross Council. 1979 Caithness Paperweights Volume 1 (1969-1979) |
