Frits AkerboomFrits Akerboom was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and trained in Leiden at the Instrument Makers School between 1954 and 1957. He joined the University of St. Andrews as a scientific glassblower in 1971. From 1971 to 1972, he studied on day release at Edinburgh College of Art and was one of the first to introduce lampwork to Scotland. He now specialises in lampwork and slumped glass. (In 1990 he had a studio in Strathkinness, possibbly retired now.) An example of his work can be found in the collections of Glasgow Museums. Exhibited in Scotland, Germany and Austria. |
