The Scottish Glass Society is an artist-led, not-for-profit organisation with a mission to champion the work of glass artists in Scotland. It came about as a result of research that identified a need for a support network for glass artists in Scotland. It is the main provider of support and services for contemporary glass craft and design in Scotland, and promotes the excellent work of glass artists to a regional and national audience. It is a membership organisation of glassmakers, collectors, historians and enthusiasts, and has been in existence for 29 years. The Society holds meetings to encourage communication between makers and others interested in glass, and currently has over 200 members, 50 of whom are professional glass artists. The Scottish Glass Society is a registered Scottish Arts charitable organisation. Mission StatementThe Scottish Glass Society’s vision is to be the best international membership organisation for glass in Europe in terms of communication with, services for, and involvement of its members. Encouraging excellence in contemporary glassmaking as a creative art form developing a greater public appreciation of Contemporary Scottish Glass.
