Copper Wheel Engraver
Wilma Mackenzie is one of the few remaining qualified practitioners of copper wheel engraving. Much of the worlds engraved products have been done using mass produced methods, or computer controlled methods, whereas Wilma engraves each and every piece by hand to each customer's requirements.
Wilma joined Edinburgh Crystal in 1977 as an apprentice and had the great fortune to be trained by Mr Fred Lonie MBE. She stayed with Edinburgh Crystal until 1985 when she left to become self employed.
In 1987 Wilma met graphic artist, Marjorie Campbell, who was interested in glass engraving. Together they formed Luckenbooth Glass Engraving in 1989.
Wilma moved back to Tarbert in 1992 and continued working with Marjorie until she died in 1999.
Wilma opened a little gallery and workshop in May 2004 in Tarbert, Argyll.
